Rick Calhoun, a land use planner from Ministry of Natural Resources, was the guest speaker . His presentation and discussions with the student participants focussed on the the environmental effects which result from recreational activities on Crown land and on lakes. Included in his presentation was significant focus on the real or perceived environmental effects different recreational users have on each other, with specific emphasis on the emerging conflict between motorized and non-motorized recreationists. The need for consideration of others and their perspectives and good communication and understanding among users was stressed. Calhoun also stressed that some activities simply do not mix well with others.
