Eco Resource Center was designed with education in mind! Our board rooms and training rooms, indoor and outdoor exhibitory are completely conducive for a day of learning. And best of all our relaxed atmosphere lends itself to learning and knowledge retention. Conference rooms ideally suited for up to 60 individuals in a class room style format. State of the art technology, high speed internet and access to professional trainers to help you achieve your desired learning outcomes and value for your training dollar.
School Field Trips
We are the IDEAL location in Timiskaming for a day trip to explore culture, NATURE and recreation. Itineraries for day trips are a threefold adventure: 1/3 environmental education, 1/3 recreation to reinforce the value of team playing and the fun of active living, and 1/3 relaxation -- after all, the students have worked so hard all year, they deserve to relax a little and take in the scenery.
Day trips are organized by our staff and led by retired school teachers.
- Elk Lake Heritage Museum - Discover a century of Elk City's history, from silver discovery through the boom era and the Great Fire of 1922. Students will visit cultural sites along the shores of the Montreal River and discover remnants of almost one hundred years
- Domtar/ELPM mill tours - Suitable for mature student groups interested in learning about the leading-edge technology right at our doorstep. Students are taken on a guided tour of a softwood lumber mill and learn the entire mill process, from tree to 2x4. During this session students are taught to appreciate the forestry community and industry for its many advantages.
- Building It Green Eco Center Wood Works. Workship coming soon. Ecological value of building with wood in one hour seminar format.
- Mountain Bike Excursion with GPS Units - Explore various points of significance across the community by mountain bike or visit a number of geo-cache locations on foot.
